Vatican City - This morning, in the Paul VI Hall, in the presence of the Pope and the Roman Curia, Fr Roberto Pasolini devoted the second Lenten sermon to fraternity, presenting it not as a vague sentiment but as a concrete place of conversion.
The Preacher of the Papal Household pointed to Saint Francis as the model of a communion received as a gift, yet immediately tested by real life. Referring to Cain and Abel, Pasolini showed how fraternity begins to fracture when rivalry, closure and the rejection of the other prevail. For Pasolini, the Christian response lies in mercy, forgiveness, and the ability to pass through conflicts without fleeing from them. The authenticity of faith, in fact, is measured by love for one’s brothers: it is there that Easter already begins here and now, opening onto eternal life. The next appointment will be next Friday, 20 March 2026.

Lent. Pasolini to the Pope: “Fraternity, the place where the truth of our spiritual life is revealed”
In the second Lenten meditation, the Preacher of the Papal Household points to wounded fraternity as the place where faith is called to be tested through mercy, forgiveness, and the realities of daily life.
