The incompetence of the laity in the Vatican risks sending the system to collapse.

🇮🇹 Il Sinodo e quella diffusa incompetenza che vige in Vaticano

While we have a judicial system that does not work because it is run by people who have no qualifications to practice in this state, we also have hundreds of people who occupy seats within this small State but have no idea where they are.

This is the bitter realisation we have come to after ten years of a pontificate that has fomented the most boorish amoral familism. We have seen the arrival of editorial directors of the Vatican media who have been “strongly advised by Titius”, “nuns” placed in the same dicastery recommended by Marko Ivan Rupnik, monsignors who have cut and sewn letters and climbed positions, and so on.

The situation is complex and threatens to lead to collapse, “if the Good Lord doesn’t give us some Grace very soon”, someone whispers as they leave Santa Marta behind and enter the Vatican Basilica. The yardstick for hiring, which was supposed to be stopped but in fact has increased by leaps and bounds, has become the typical Italian one: “are you a friend of?” And in fact this is the question one hears from several people who may have arrived in that position on their own merits but certainly not because they were chosen during this pontificate.

Silere non possum has often returned to this topic, particularly with regard to justice. We talked about Alessandro Diddi, who loves talking to journalists but does not like to sit in libraries and study. We talked about Giuseppe Pignatone, torpedoed by the Italian Republic and fished out by the best mentors of the Pontifical Academies. These are people brought to the Vatican but who have never studied canon law or even Vatican law. We spoke about the Dicastery for Communication, which has demonstrated its incompetence but continues to occupy one of the first places in terms of expenditure in the annual budget.

Today, another 'distinguished' communicator clearly emerges. He is the Frenchman Thierry Bonaventura, the current Communication Manager of the General Secretariat of the Synod. Yes, another one of those lay people who likes to use these terms so in step with the times.

The inability to stay in one's place

As we have pointed out in this article, the voice of a part of the Church, which cannot be called Catholic, seems to be emerging in the Synod. We speak of those German-speaking Catholics. We are thinking of Austria, Germany and Switzerland. We strongly believe that it would be enlightening for every priest and every bishop to have an experience in these countries. One month, no more. One would realise how these realities are in the vanguard with regard to the management of money, structures, administration, but there is a complete lack of interest in what is the teaching of the Catholic Church, the figure of Jesus Christ, and whatever else.

In parishes, the laity have leadership roles. If a priest receives an offering for the celebration of a Holy Mass, he does not keep it for himself but must give it to the 'parish secretary'. The Sacrament of Penance? A unknown. People access the Eucharist without drawing on the sacrament of mercy.

"If you tell the faithful from the ambo that they must first go to confession and then access the Eucharist, they go to the bishop and tell him to remove you," confesses a German priest. He continues: "Everything is in the hands of the laity, if you don't comply with their expectations they send you away. In some places, like Switzerland, you are actually employed by the laity and they choose whether you are worthy or not".

Here the importance of money clearly emerges, something the Pope often likes to joke about. Poverty cannot be understood as 'sell everything', or as sterile pauperism. Money, it is undeniable, provides the Church with freedom. That is why it is fundamental to understand that this State is also a guarantee of the freedom of the Pope and the Church itself. "Here, in fact, it is evident that by leaving money in the hands of the laity, they choose for us and if you want to live you have to go along with them, otherwise you end up on the street", the priest continued.

This drift, as we have said, is also reaching Rome and instead of clearly rejecting it, we are pandering to the insane aspirations of someone who is incapable of staying in his place.

In the past few hours Thierry Bonaventura sent out a newsletter in which he undertook a ridiculous defence of the Instrumentum Laboris. It is clear that in the Synod Secretariat they are afraid that someone will raise their voice because it is evident that all those who had written to the Synod or expressed their ‘conservative’ positions during the groups were not taken into account. Silere non possum received numerous testimonies,

Someone, however, in Via della Conciliazione is playing and relying on that incredible ability that animates the ‘traditionalist’ groups, namely: making war on each other. So even if one were to raise its voice, the others would not join in out of sheer jealousy. It is the same reason why certain individuals are not entrusted with parishes, because rather than taking care of the flock entrusted to them, they compete with neighbouring parish priests.

Bonaventure writes: “The text is not the fruit of ChatGPT but of a long process of discernment that has taken into account all that has been done and elaborated in these two years of process”.

The fact that it is not the result of artificial intelligence is self-evident. Artificial intelligence, in fact, would certainly have taken into account the voices to the contrary, which in this case the ‘human intelligence’ has clearly eliminated.

Then, the communication manager says a huge nonsense: “The General Secretariat of the Synod is the General Secretariat of the whole Church, not just a part of it”. Bonaventure seems not to have studied enough in Lyon. The Catholic Church has no General Secretariat and if those who are part of the Synod Secretariat think they are ‘the whole Church’ perhaps they have not understood anything at all. This is yet another demonstration of how these people have serious problems with megalomania.

The inability to stay in one’s place but wanting to put one’s hands everywhere is evident. Just like Nathalie Becquart who talks very little about Jesus Christ but is concerned about the square footage of her office.

To understand that this Synod is in danger of becoming a festival of ambition, it is necessary for a good portion of the clergy to wake up. Of course, to understand the drifts, even doctrinal ones, to which we risk going, one must have studied. This is also why some are serene and unconcerned, because the result of the post-conciliar ‘much pastoral work’ is bearing fruit. We have few priests who have a solid theological formation. Those who have been ordained in the last ten years are much better prepared than those who lived through the 1968 years. But the climate of terror that prevails leads many to keep silent, and that is a trouble.
